Team Building Activities is a Steve/Tony story by valtyr. It's pre-TA fic set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The story was written for espadas for the Cap/Iron Man Secret Santa 2011.[1]
Summary: Fury's a beautiful princess. Clint's plotting a Communist revolution. Rhodey's not sexy. Wall-E's not a documentary. Clint's not gay but he does give a great blowjob. This fic is not an AU.
Recs and Reviews
The characterization is wonderful and awesome and the snark is great. I’d consider it a fairly nice introduction to the fandom and pairing because it fills you in on need-to-know infromation as it goes along. Chronologically, this takes place after the events in Iron Man II and The Hulk, but before the events in Thor.[2]
I love the Steve/Tony relationship in this, and that Tony is actually a really nice guy to Steve here, in an inimitably Tony way, but I put it under "Team Building" because I also love the interactions between the entire team, and because it is almost as much about the Avengers becoming a family as it is about Steve and Tony falling in love. It is hard to decide what my favorite part is, because I love all of it, but for today I am caught between the trip to Russia and the lap dance.[3]
Oh my god! This is one of my most favourite fics, simply because of the comedic brilliance of the author. It had me laughing myself into stomach aches. You have a glimpse of it from the summary (the very best summary I've ever read), but it's nothing compared to the fic itself. But then, drama! Angst! Smut! Really, what more do you want in a fic?[4]
In all honesty, I started reading this because the summary was just so freaking weird. And I read it. And I can’t even deal with how good this fic was. The characterisation was perfect, the story was great and I laughed so hard my family think I’m now insane. It’s just an amazing fic and, as always, valtyr remains a personal favourite.[5]
Lots of Pepper PoV! (I love you, Pepper.) Also exes who are still friends and occasionally sleep together sometimes even when they're trying to cut back. Also Natasha buys Tony several lap dances from dudes to test a hypothesis, AMAZING. (I LOVE YOU, NATASHA). And Tony convinces Steve that Wall-E is a documentary.[6]
