Talk:Transformational Fandom

A way bigger topic all around: how to include on this page, and similar ones, the female need/desire to change what is presented on the screen/page/other because it doesn't fully speak to them, as opposed to the more often male need/desire to curate and play with what is presented by the TPTB without transforming it because it was written with males in mind? In other words, gendered fixing or not fixing what's seen as broken or incomplete, or ultimately satisfied with the way canon was presented. Ties in with curative fandom. (hopefully not failing too horribly at gender language) --MPH (talk) 22:52, 11 June 2015 (UTC)

I agree with this, MPH, and I was wondering if it would be possible to split these issues off into a separate page on Transformative Fandom? At the moment, "Transformative Fandom" redirects to this page, which talks about some of the same issues but in the context of a slightly different term which was created with a specific purpose and definition in mind, so it's not really suited to talking about the larger umbrella of issues with "transformative fandom".
On a separate but related note, I find it a bit of an issue that the pages for Transformational Fandom and Affirmational Fandom are basically identical. Do we need both pages? What about having one for the essay which talks about both terms, and Transformational Fandom and Affirmational Fandom can both redirect there? --enchantedsleeper (talk) 15:16, 14 July 2018 (UTC)
Just dropping a link to the Affirmational Fandom talk page here, since that's where this conversation is unfolding! - Fandomgeographies (talk) 13:34, 16 July 2018 (UTC)

"Gendered Entries/Writing"

First of all- Kudos to you for taking on this huge, fraught topic. There are multiple Task Forces associated with these issues and the larger topic of increasing the number of female editors and listings relating to females.

I do not edit/write to a particular gender, I strive to be gender neutral in as many ways as possible. I don't think I know how to write any other way. I am not judging or expressing an opinion on either side of this very intriguing topic.

Thank you Mrs. Potato Head

Removal of Skud's deadname.

Per their request, I have removed the link between Skud/damned-colonial's pseudonym and their former legal name. They no longer have that name and would like to stop seeing it when on this site.
