Talk:Order of the Concritters

I removed some material that didn't seem relevant, though maybe it could be rewritten instead. The structure of the page makes this article seem more like promotional material or a reposting of how-to guidelines for the forum rather than documentation of fan activity. Talking about a forum's policy on an article about the forum is perfectly valid, but IMHO we don't need to reproduce all the rules/policies if there's a link we can point to.

The "Membership Policy" section could be reworked as an overview for how critiquing on the forum actually works in practice.--æþel 16:17, 22 January 2011 (UTC)

Given the fact that websites often dissapear without warning and are not archived, relying solely on links for content is problemtatic. If the section needs rewording, then you should rewrite rather delete or else we face the loss of data down the road as links age and fall off the net. The workflow should be: 1. is the site currently being archived in the WayBack Machine? Yes, then rewrite or delete (your choice). 2. If not, rewrite. --Morgandawn 17:24, 22 January 2011 (UTC)
Adding...I went to the forum and could not find the portions you deleted. If you locate the link, I can verify if the data is being archived.--Morgandawn 17:32, 22 January 2011 (UTC)
Okay, I've returned two sections I removed for now. I found some of the sections here, but not "Member Rules". And it looks like ff.net is blocked from the Wayback Machine.--æþel 22:30, 22 January 2011 (UTC)
Got it. No idea if the member rules etc are of any import (only time will tell). BTW, for those sites not blocked from the Internet Archive but that are not (yet) indexed or archived, we can use WebCite - it will send a copy to the WayBack Machine (the lag is around 6 months to one year). Plus it will give a backup link in case the site goes down in the interim (something that has happened far too often this past year). WebCite is easier to use than Alexa (IMHO).--Morgandawn 00:02, 23 January 2011 (UTC)
The Member Rules section is currently being reworked, and it is posted on here only as a rough draft for my moderators to work with. Once the build is final, it will be added to the Forum Rules and Regulations thread that you linked to.--Que Quieres Spyro Kid 17:14, 24 February 2011 (EST)
