Naming?

Okay, I started this, but it needs some cleaning and beefing up. Also, I'm very uncertain about the naming. OT4 is ambiguous, but it is the primary term used for the pairing. 'SGA-1' and 'Team Shep' usually refer to the Gen angle. Can anyone see a better solution? the old briar pipe 08:56, 6 January 2009 (UTC)

Actually, from what I know of SG-1 fandom, 'Team' stories were gen stories that focused on the team, and skimming this entry, it looks like that definition carried over. Are there stories labeled as Team that have a sexual component, or are they primarily labeled OT4? --rache 15:01, 7 January 2009 (UTC)
SGA is less gate-team exclusive in its use of 'Team', so that word can mean many things. The SGA Gen Ficathon and the recent SGA Flashfic challenge both had 'Team' stories that did not focus on SGA-1, and some 'Team' stories are romantically ambiguous. But the issue more broadly at hand, I think, is the appropriation of the term 'OT4'. Just as 'OTP' is not a synonym for 'McShep' in everyone's minds, so 'OT4' doesn't have to mean 'SGA-1 in a bed, yays'. It's just come to mean that over time, for lack of a better term for the pairing. There are other, rarer foursomes in the fandom that some folks are very attached to. I just don't want to step on toes by appropriating the term, even if it's kind of a barn/horse problem. the old briar pipe 01:39, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
