WOW this is an empty page! Maybe add some about fan-Rowling interaction? What has she said about fanfic? --msilverstar 19:54, 24 April 2010 (UTC)

Links for future reference -- In early interviews, Rowling said she's flattered by fanworks: September 1999, October 2000, March 2001. This November 2001 article says: "Rumor has it that the new corporate folk want to clamp down on the more erotically inclined Harry Potter fans online." January 2003 was the cease & desist letters to adult archives (here are two) and there are lots of other statements from her legal team/representatives that say they/JKR doesn't support adult fic: June 2003 (ref), May 2004, April 2006, November 2007 (but I can't find any quotes actually from JKR). Harry, A History (p.212) says:

"Jo Rowling would never become comfortable with the idea of fanfiction, but it was somewhere around this time [2002] that her lawyers asked her what she wanted to do about it. [...] She set up simple guidelines with her lawyers: never for money and nothing pornographic. Other than that, leave it alone."

Post-HP Relationship with Fandom

I've added the "needs updating" tag. It's definitely no longer accurate that she has a positive relationship with fandom, and this page should be expanded to cover her post-canon clarifications, unwanted worldbuilding, and controversial views. – caes (talk) 16:50, 19 March 2019 (UTC)

Move Page

I support the request for moving the page. J. K. Rowling is the correct spelling as it appears on the covers of her books. SecurityBreach (talk) 17:24, 12 August 2020 (UTC)

So I just sifted through several pages connected with Rowling and the Potterverse. It seems that most fans prefer the J.K. spelling of her name. Now I really don't know what to do :-( SecurityBreach (talk) 17:33, 12 August 2020 (UTC)
I vote for keeping it "J.K. Rowling." --MPH (talk) 18:04, 12 August 2020 (UTC)
This is how most fans spell it. I have to admit that my initial enthusiasm for moving the page has gone. Sorry. SecurityBreach (talk) 18:58, 12 August 2020 (UTC)
There doesn't seem to be a consensus for a move (and J. K. Rowling is already a redirect). So I'm wondering if the Attention Gardeners tag can be removed from this page and J.K. Rowling and Transphobia? --Auntags (talk) 12:42, 12 September 2020 (UTC)
Yes, and I can do it. --MPH (talk) 13:05, 12 September 2020 (UTC)
