Needs Moar Fandom Content, pls!

This is the stubbiest stub that ever stubbed, especially as it's the counterpart to Bandom (Decaydance+, My Chemical Romance Source Text). I'm going to links to the other bandom pages. Someone who knows should add stuff here. --msilverstar 15:17, 21 July 2010 (UTC)

I'm not into music RPF, but IMO we should delete this thing, until someone who is into some band fandom which is not the above, yet calls their fandom "Bandom" actually wants to add another Bandom page, named Bandom (whatever), (with the "whatever" being whatever specification they want rather than this "Music Source Text" catch all) which is then added to the disambig. Clearly the term as it is now is not working or inspiring anyone to add anything, and the people invested into the kerfuffle at the dawn of this wiki seem dto have mostly vanished into the ether. I mean, is this supposed to be an overview for all bands ever who someone wrote a porn fantasy about?--RatCreature 15:29, 21 July 2010 (UTC)
Let's wait or a bit and see if someone wants to jump in. From the Bandom/Terminology Debate, it looks like a painful topic and I'd rather not delete it if someone's nerving themselves up to edit. --msilverstar 15:36, 21 July 2010 (UTC)
Sure. I just think that the deletion option should be put on the table, when any of the more or less convoluted name schemes that were offered from the wiki's side to accomodate and anticipate potential content (this is the simplified one already after all, so more the second attempt), didn't inspire anyone to talk about their non-MCR bandom so far. --RatCreature 15:54, 21 July 2010 (UTC)
I vote for deleting it. My impression was that the other bandom people were only interested in the Bandom page not being called Bandom without qualifying information that makes it clear that there is another bandom, somewhere. As long as the Six Degrees of Wentz Bandom page keeps some disambiguation information as part of its name (which could be shorter) it should be fine. --Doro 18:19, 21 July 2010 (UTC)
I'd vote for keeping it, but removing the stub label - it doesn't need any more info that isn't already on the other linked pages, but it needs to exist to keep the politically-sensitive structure, to make the disambiguation page for Bandom correct. Cesy 07:30, 8 May 2011 (UTC)

scope in infobox

The listed scope is Music RPF, but I thought this term referred specifically to rock bands? Though examples are included for solo pop acts as well. Would "20th and 21st century rock and pop acts" be an accurate description of the scope? How about country, hip hop, jazz, folk?--aethel (talk) 17:50, 30 August 2015 (UTC)

bandom as fandom name vs. bandom as glossary term

I have recently come across some definitions of bandom that make me think we either need ANOTHER page or that this page is inaccurate. This page says that Bandom is the name of the fandom, but "bandom" is also a generic term for a fandom for a band. Usage example:

  • "I do enjoy this bandom despite the wank." (August 2007)[1]

To the best of my knowledge, no one here was actually in Bandom (music source text), so I have a terrible suspicion that we all misunderstood the Bandom Terminology Debate. Can anyone confirm that Bandom (music source text) was actually a thing?--aethel (talk) 04:23, 7 February 2017 (UTC)

And I may have confused myself again. At least hector_rashbaum was talking about it like it was the name of the fandom: Even just within bandom mileage varies a pretty fair amount depending which segment and where you participate - LJ FBR fandom is just not the same as RockFic fandom.[2]--aethel (talk) 04:46, 7 February 2017 (UTC)

Adam Lambert and Katy Perry

I think this paragraph is incorrect and needs to go, unless someone's got a cite for it: This sense of the term bandom is also more likely to be used by people writing crossovers with American Idol season 8 - pairings such as Adam Lambert/Mikey Way or Adam Lambert/Gerard Way will get labelled "bandom" even though only one of the characters is part of the Decaydance+ Bandom. I looked up the 11 Adam/Gerard fics and 5 Adam/Mikey fics on AO3, and they were all written by American Idol/Adam Lambert/Glam Rock fans or MCR fans, and everyone who used the tag "Bandom" was using it to mean Decaydance/MCR Bandom.--aethel (talk) 18:18, 6 July 2018 (UTC)

I also think the Rihanna/Katy Perry fic example is incorrect. I looked up the fic in question. On AO3 its fandom is listed as Pop Music RPF, no one mentions "bandom" in the comments, the giftee doesn't have any bandfic/bandom works. When I filter the AO3 Katy Perry tag (50 works) for "Bandom", I get 11 works and all the other fandoms are Decaydance/MCR. When I google the yuletide fic, I don't see any discussion about its relationship to bandom. I also looked up the writer's LJ and found they used to be Decaydance/MCR fan, but it doesn't look like they consider their Rihanna/Katy Perry fic to have anything to do with that. Sorry to be pedantic, but since we don't seem to have anyone here who can speak for this side of bandom, I'm trying to reverse-engineer a more accurate/complete definition.--aethel (talk) 18:52, 6 July 2018 (UTC)
