Removed (usually naughty) as I'm aware of five of these, and three of them wouldn't qualify. Should there be a pointer to the earliest one posted to lj (I haven't found any that are older, though that certainly doesn't mean they aren't there someplace) - would that perhaps help to determine whether it's the earliest? It's Zoetrope as well, and predates the other (non-Zoetrope) examples by a year and a half. (http://zoetrope.livejournal.com/96301.html)Jinjurly 17:47, 11 December 2008 (UTC)

My guess is that there's conflation with the sex.wav phenomenon; before audfic, many fandoms had a sex.wav, which was often bits of dialogue and groaning to tell a fairly simple (and usually naughty *g*) story. Sentinel had one, I remember: the jimblairsex.wav Not sure if this should be the same page or defined as something different? anyone? --Speranza 00:50, 12 December 2008 (UTC)
PS. the jbsex.wav must date from the mid-to-late '90s. Does anyone know who made it? Apparently we can't upload .wav files to fanlore! Sniff! Maybe we could get Jinjurly to host it?--Speranza 01:06, 12 December 2008 (UTC)
ooh, okay, i *knew* it couldn't be a new form. how early does the sex.wav phenomenon start? and...let me brainstorm a little about audfic & sex.wavs. i'd like to archive them, but they are a different enough form from podfic that i'll need to look at structure. that's just the access bit, though - i can host the actual files starting at any time.Jinjurly 04:54, 14 December 2008 (UTC)
sending!! let's get 'em linked anyway--they're tiny, why not? I had almost no computer memory/broadband for a really long time, so I wasn't a bit one for collecting multimedia stuff back then. I'm sure there were sex.wavs in other fandoms, we'll just have to see who's got what. And anyone want to take credit for these two? Bueller? You're brilliant, whoever you are! --Speranza 05:41, 14 December 2008 (UTC)

Title of this page

I think the title of this page is somewhat misleading because so far there is no commonly accepted term for this kind of fanwork and I would suggest renaming it to something less restrictive, for example Audiofic (original fanwork) or Audiofic (original audio fanfic) to distinguish it from Audiofic (podfic). --Doro 11:38, 23 January 2010 (UTC)

Audiofic (original fanwork) would be misleading, IMO, because that makes it sound as if it was connected to original fic. How about something like Audiofic (collage) or Audiofic (sound collage)? That would be descriptive.--RatCreature 11:53, 23 January 2010 (UTC)
Both would work for me but I think I like the last one best. :) Could we go with Audiofic (sound collage)? --Doro 12:45, 23 January 2010 (UTC)
That would be fine with me, I'm just against putting original something in the title.--RatCreature 13:09, 23 January 2010 (UTC)
