Talk:AO3 Tagging Policy Debate

The conversation about this page started at Talk:AO3 Tag Wrangling. If someone has a better page name, feel free to move it. I also copy/pasted the AO3 Tag Wrangling intro paragraph over, so that probably needs some work.--æþel 04:31, 9 July 2012 (UTC)

scope?

Page name is very generic (looks I did it), but covers some very specific historical debates that are no longer relevant. I'm not sure which direction this page should go in - people are still criticizing AO3 tagging policy, but the discussions don't really fit into the current page structure. The way this page is structured right now is very ahistorical. Should it be updated to cover all debates (plural) past and present? If so I think it needs a complete overhaul. It needs a rename either way: AO3 Tagging Policy Debates or AO3 Tagging Policy Debates, 2011-2012. (I stuck some more recent topics on the AO3 Tagging System page, but that could quickly expand and we'll be back to needing a separate page for it.)--aethel (talk) 19:40, 21 October 2023 (UTC)

I created a separate page for No Fandom Freeforms. Other more recent complaints include: pinyin diacritics, piping for non-English canons, dismantling of tag trees[1][2][3], case where a DCEU subfandom tag was incorrectly synned to the parent[4], loss of "All Media Types" metatags.--aethel (talk) 15:38, 22 October 2023 (UTC)
