A fan club/mailing list for the X-Men character Rogue. The first reference to the website appeared in the signature line of Alexandra N's posting of part two of a fanfic on ACFF in September, 1996,[1] and the website acknowledges the mailing list started in 1996. [2] The site moved from earthlink.com to its own domain in October 1999.[3] The fan club was originally started by Bonnie "Dni" Cunningham and Lynn Keslensky, who came from a Gambit fan club called "Guild O' Thieves" (which later became The Gambit Guild). Bonnie and Lynn created the group as a place to discuss Rogue that was also Gambit-friendly, as many of the websites and mailing lists of the time were not.[4]

The mailing list emphasized friendly and courteous discussion, with a three-strikes system for those who broke the policies against flaming, spamming, forging or persistent off-topic posting. With the release of the X-Men movies, the list also instituted a ban on posting potential or ideal casting discussions due to their tendency to take over the mailing list to the detriment of all other discussion.[5]

As of 2008, there were 167 members, according to the members page.[6] The site was comprised of the following sections:

Main Page

Rogue's Castle

An archive of all of the canon information about Rogue collected by members of the mailing list. It included "basic stats to an extensive history, detailed info on her powers and how she got them along with a list of her comic book appearances. There are even details on her first appearances, intended and actual. Who has she used her skin-to-skin based powers of absorption on and who has been immune to those powers?"[7]

  • Rogue Stuff! - This is a fun area of free Rogue stuff you can download, including wallpapers, coloring pages, etc.

SC Shop

The club was unusual in that it had a shop attached to the website, as part of Amazon's "website shop" program which allowed maintainers to select particular items of interest to advertise and receive a referral fee.

Ending

The site went down between October 11, 2008 and November 1, 2009, according to the Wayback archived pages. The last update appears to have been in February 2008, according to the What's New page.[8]
