Snupin Santa was a Secret Santa winter holiday fic and art exchange for the Harry Potter fandom's Severus Snape/Remus Lupin pairing. The exchange is archived at The Snupin Santa Holiday Fest Archive and uses Efiction to host stories and art from the first exchange in 2005 to the last exchange in 2014. Stories were posted anonymously throughout the month of December, and the reveal post/masterlist was posted in early January.
The exchange consistently had a large number of gifts. In 2005, 37 stories, 9 works of art, and 8 sets of icons and other creations were given.[1] In 2006, there were 77 stories and 21 art pieces exchanged.[2] In 2007, there were 77 stories or combinations of story and art; 20 works of art or icon sets; and one translation.[3] In 2008, there were 65 stories and 12 works of art.[4] By this time, the archive had a total word-count of 2,374,276 and a total of 77 works of art, representing 121 authors and artists. The conclusion of the canon series has not had a significant negative effect on the popularity of the pairing or the Snupin Santa exchange.
Fifth run of the exchange, in 2009, brought 41 fics and 12 works of art.[5] Year 2010 saw 32 stories, 14 works of art and 1 combination of art and lyrics.[6] Year 2011 meant 37 stories, 10 works of art and 2 gifts combining both art and fic.[7] In 2012, the fest archive passed 4 million words by adding 37 new stories, 10 works of art and 2 combinations of both.[8]
In 2013, the exchange part of the Fest was dropped: participants only needed to claim one of the suggested prompts, the prompters weren't obliged to create any content[9], leading to 23 stories and 14 works of art or poetry being created. When revealing the masterlist, lore_(fan)Lore also announced that if a tenth Fest were to be held next year, rules would be very benevolent, in order to allow as many people to participate as possible.[10]
The tenth and final run of the Snupin Santa Fest was held in 2014, authors and artists created 34 for pieces of fic, podfic and art.[11]
