Reactions and Reviews

This was one of the few stories where I correctly guessed the author. The story had an inventive plot, excellent writing, and Spock on top in the very hot love scenes—all of which are hallmarks of Brianna‘s stories. A malfunction on the Shore Leave planet has caused Kirk and others to be trapped incommunicado for hours. Spock eventually learns of this, and beams down into a scene of wild chaos. He finally finds Kirk in Belinda‘s Bordello, watching a replica Kirk with his legs held up by chains, being fucked by a replica Spock.

This story was a hoot with so many amusing scenes. I loved the scene on the bridge with the unfortunate ensign who had not notified Spock of the problems on the planet. And then when Spock arrives on the planet Scotty is fighting Klingons with the aid of Tinkerbell, McCoy is playing poker with Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, and Uhura is having her toes sucked by a replica Kirk! When Spock finally traces Kirk to the Bordello, I loved the description of Kirk‘s reaction to the replica Kirk and Spock show on the stage. He is clearly mesmerized, and aroused, especially when the replica Spock performs fellatio on Kirk while penetrating him. Spock‘s admission that Vulcans can easily perform such a maneuver results in a great section of dialogue that ends with Spock and Kirk agreeing that Spock will demonstrate on Kirk in order to prove the truth of his statement!

This story was fun, and really hot. (At least it pushed all my buttons!) I liked it a lot. [1]

"Shore Leave Epilogue or Everyone's Written a Shore Leave Story and This Is Mine" by Brianna Falken is a four and a half page story that I thoroughly loved in this zine which has fifteen stories in it total. I would rank it my number one choice because humor, especially satire, is extremely hard to do. Interestingly enough in the voting for the top three stories in this contest zine, this was not listed. This shows you that we all have different tastes. For me, this is a top notch story I would recommend to anyone, and it was the highlight of this zine for me. For a short satire, this is totally unlike anything that I have ever read by Brianna before. This is another reason that I appreciate it so much. I love her long complex stories, but in this she shows she can do short humor as well.

The title gives you the basic premise. And you can easily guess the plot line. This satire is hilarious and one reason it is hilarious is that it is also so close to the real thing, which is often extremely OTT, that you have to pinch yourself to know it isn't the real thing or a serious effort. Actually if you didn't see the long title which is a clue in itself and know what type of stories that Brianna writes, you might not even realize it is a satire.

I love some of the dialogue and also some of the adjective choices. Aside from that, I really don't want to give away specific plot details because that is part of the joy of reading the story for yourself-describing and enjoying the details. I really recommend the story. It will arouse you and amuse you at the same time. [2]
