About

"Please, if you have or know of any Sherlockian fanfics (whether serious, humorous, or just plain weird :), e-mail me and tell me how I can make it available here to other Holmes fans!

Note: I have a scanner and will gladly scan in fanzines and similar works with permission of the authors, so do contact me even if the work is only available on paper!"

A couple of frequently asked questions...

What is a fanfic/pastiche?

A fanfic (short for fanfiction) or pastiche is, as you might guess, a story inspired by or containing characters from some other author's work. Fanfic authors are rarely paid for their work; it's really a labor of love and a tribute to the author's work.

What about Sherlockian writing? Is that the same thing?

Not really. Most Sherlockian writing comes in the form of articles or essays on the Canon -- the original stories by Conan Doyle. Many Sherlockians like to play the "Great Game" and pretend that Sherlock Holmes was a historical person, while Conan Doyle was merely a literary agent for Dr. Watson. So, many articles are written as serious scholarly works trying to paint a picture of Holmes's life and times. Fanfics, on the other hand, are new fiction featuring Holmes or associated characters from the Canon. Both are fun ways of exploring the characters and the Canon in new ways.

While this site is in the construction stages [1], here's a set of links you can explore to satisfy your craving for more of the Great Detective... [2]"
