Rikku (リュック, Ryukku) is a playable character in the Square video game Final Fantasy X and its sequel, Final Fantasy X-2, and a minor character in the Square Enix/Disney video game Kingdom Hearts II. .

Canon

A young Al Bhed girl. Her personality is upbeat and positive, and she is not afraid to speak her mind. She works hard to restore her outcast people to their former glory. Rikku handles mechanical enemies with ease, and can steal items from enemies, too.

Final Fantasy X booklet description

Rikku first appears as one of the playable characters in Final Fantasy X, in which she accompanies her paternal cousin Yuna and others on a journey to defeat the monster Sin. Rikku again appears as one of the three protagonists in the game’s direct sequel, Final Fantasy X-2.

Reception and popularity

Rikku's bubbly, confident personality is sometimes preferred over the cold Lulu and the mild Yuna. She is often compared to Yuffie Kisaragi in personality and archetype.

In a 2010 Famitsu poll of reader's all-time favorite video-game characters, Rikku ranked fiftieth out of the top fifty.[1] According to an online popularity poll on Square Enix's Final Fantasy 25th anniversary commemoration forums, Rikku is ranked the 13th of the seventeen most popular female characters in the Final Fantasy series.[2] In a 2020 NHK poll, Rikku was voted the seventeenth most popular character in the entire Final Fantasy franchise out of 200 major and minor characters.[3][4]

Despite other criticisms of FFX’s English dub, Tara Strong's performance as Rikku generally has been praised.

Fanon and tropes

Fan art and cosplay of Rikku in her default FFX-2 outfit seem to be somewhat more popular than her FFX outfit, despite FFX being more popular than FFX-2.
