Relays is a Darkover newsletter edited by Paella. It was preceded by The Darkover Newsletter. There were at least four issues. The zine is "published with the permission of Marion Zimmer Bradley."

From the title page regarding its origins, the editor writes:

I volunteered. Contrary to popular speculation, I was not tied to MZB's living room crouch and beaten into submission. My first fantasy universe was Darkover. My first fannish organization to be associated with was the Friends of Darkover. Naturally, I set up an unholy racket when I learned that they would be closing down all operations except the annual Fantasy Worlds Festivals convention... 'Relays' is a daughter newsletter of the DNL (Darkover Newsletter). Since DNL was a Friends of Darkover publication, it is no longer being printed. 'Relays' is therefore here to fill the gap and to get all you fine people the information DNL used to. So yes, in this newsletter is information on upcoming MZB books, conventions she'll be attending, and listings for several other Darkover publications.

These issues I have the masters on and the copy should be excellent. Issue 9-10, the Free Amazon issue, is available ONLY through the Friends of Darkover. Issues 27 and 28 I have no information on. Those were the last two issues."

  • a detailed order form for MZB's products
  • a ten page story called "Brushstrokes" by Cindy A. Eager
  • there is a full-page ad for a "literary-appreciation scence fiction/fantasy fanzine unlike any you've ever seen before, because all of the work in 'Promethea One' is original. That's right! No media-oriented wrok or that based upon another author's established universe will be printed... If you've been wanting to share a view of your private world, but haven't been able to find the right place, then 'Promethea One' is for YOU!"
