RWBY Quest was an alternate universe webcomic/choose-your-own adventure game created by Rontra and published on Tumblr from 2014 to 2015. It is based on the Rooster Teeth show RWBY, with existing characters and locations appearing throughout, and is influenced heavily by Ruby Quest.

Like most quest games, players would suggest actions for Ruby to take to aid her in completing the games main goal: finding her friends and escaping Beacon. While the game was running an official IRC channel was created for discussions, theories and hints. The IRC channel also played into the quest itself as several Entities appeared in the chat and interacted with players before they were introduced in the comic itself.

Introduction

Can you escape from Beacon?

Ruby Rose is a new student at Beacon, but soon after she arrives, strange things begin to happen…Students are disappearing, and strange noises can be heard in the halls. Circumstances gradually worsen, and eventually, Beacon is no longer livable, and Ruby decides that she must escape.

Bring as many of Ruby’s friends as possible and escape from Beacon, keeping everyone alive in the process. Characters must be found before their information and status appear on the Characters page.

Use the ask box to recommend an action. Please, enjoy the adventure, working together with your fellow operators to escape from Beacon.'

Unintended Parallels

Fans have noticed parallels between some of the events that happened to Dead Draw Domination, the Entity that took the form of Yang, and Yang in actual canon. Dead Draw Domination, or 3D as they are known, loses her hand in RWBY Quest and has Ruby replace it with a yellow robotic one. In the Volume 3 finale of RWBY, Yang also loses her hand/arm in a fight with Adam and later in Volume 4 has it replaced with a robotic one that she paints yellow. When Yang first lost her arm in canon many were quick to bring up RWBY Quest.[1] During Volume 6 when Yang told Adam "Gotcha" during their final fight, fans and creator of RWBY Quest itself pointed out the same line said by 3D during her final fight.[2]
