About

From a 1994 description in the zine Only Hope #2:

As a huge fan of the Star Wars Saga and an amateur filmmaker, I wanted to take the time to write you to tell you of my own adventure.

Last year several associates and myself completed a Star Wars film spoof and sent it to Lucasfilm. We had no Idea what their response would be since the production was on a budget that was non-existent. However, you will see their positive reaction In the first Star Wars Insider debuting in August. In the readers column, their [sic] is a short describing our first Star Wars film effort and how the fans may actually see the effort for themselves. I mention that it is our first film effort because this past January, once we knew we had the go ahead to create this, we decided to do Star Wars justice and create a serious amateur movie that would follow the adventures of Jacen and Jaina Solo as full fledged Jedi.

Many months and a huge amount of film footage later, we are nearing completion of the film. Instead of the first film, which was a spoof, wrought with editing problems, low budget fx and crude jokes, we decided to create a two hour full length feature film that would be the first of three films to come. However, the most Important aspect of these films to focus upon is that it Is a complete fan effort

When news spread about what we were working on, fans from Canada, Japan, the United States, and Australia began to help us on the film by making props, submitting storylines and even acting in the film. You could call this film the epitome of fan alliance. The film is so near completion that we will be finished editing the movie in August and will offer the fans a chance to see the film for themselves.

That brings us to today. I am writing to your publication as the director of this first film to offer your readers a chance to own a copy of Quest of the Jedi (the movie's title) and to receive a packet that highlights how Star Wars fans everywhere may help us on the next two amateur films.

Each individual that helps on the film will receive appropriate screen credit Simply send $15.95 (Foreign $20.95) to David Zaittsky, PO Box 249, Calverton, N.Y. 11933 USA. Please make all checks out to David Zaittsky.

Look for the second issue of trio Star Wars Insider as well for a possible follow up article by Lisa Cowan on the first of the three Star Wars amateur films. We look forward to hearing from you.
