Jane Aumerle is a gen and slash writer, one who wrote two of the first Starsky and Hutch slash novels.

She was also a fan who often generated MUCH discussion, some of which can be seen in the letterzine S and H.

Aumerle edited and published Than We Can Be Heroes, Bird of Paradise, and Mahko Root, as well as having works in other zines.

Aumerle was also the author of Graven Images.

Some of Her Own Early Words

In 1982, she was nominated for a FanQ award and submitted the following bio to The Annual Fan Q Awards Nominations Booklet:

"So you need a How-Did-I-Get-Into-This/House-of-the-Rising-Sun number, eh? Okay--I was one of the STL-hooked addicts. I read the book way back in the Dim Time (summer of '75), sent for the Welcommittee zine directory and plunged straight into joyful decadence. Later the same year I started "doing that, too", with submissions to Interphase and The Other Side of Paradise. In between the stories and poetry, I've done critical articles and reviews on both Trek and Starsky and Hutch, and edited two issues of Mahko Root with Susan Burr. In 1978 I began writing S&H and have been happily at it ever since. Currently I'm working on the sequel to Graven Images and retooling my working life to go pro."

Other's Early Words

For those of you [who] have read Jane's critical work before, no explanation is needed. If this is your first exposure, get out your dictionary and prepare yourself for a unique experience. I truly believe Jane's excellence in this field is unchallenged in fandom (and by very few in the pro realm). [1]
