From a Flyer

In 1982 none would have believed an ancient shadow still lingered in the human mind... A curse on civilization the West chooses not to see, but which the Far East may only endure...

The China Sea Pirates are very real. Centuries old, they have grown in strong as they have both defied governments and been patronized by them. The British waged war from Hong Kong, but nothing has ever weakened, much less destroyed, the scourge of the East.

A joint Anglo-US operation, coordinated from Seaview, sees tragedy visit the Crane family, Lee's nephew, Bobby, fresh from the Academy, is cut down in a hail of fire as what was meant to be a trap backfires... Tragedy has a way of returning, as just months later Seaview's crew are at Arlington again, for a more poignant service than they have ever known.

Lee's niece, Nora, a detective with the FBI, arrives in Hong Kong, grieving, and determined to follow the trail of her brother's killers, no matter where it leads — or to whom. A determined lady, her need for closure could jeopardize that of which she has no knowledge, and the Admiral must handle her with care.

The pirates' days are numbered, and only Nelson knows exactly why. Seaview puts to sea in a waiting game as the Admiral, with patience profound, lets patterns of force intersect in a cataclysm that will rock the Far East.

Nothing is as it seems... Who is Rogan, the mystery-man who appeared suddenly in the slums of Bangkok? What is his secret, the power he wields, that sees him rise swiftly to prominence in Asia's underworld? How did he acquire the most potent striking force organized crime has ever seen? And what will the Ocean Dragons make of him, after they have tried, and failed, to fight this round-eye devil?

Destiny is drawing US and UK forces together in the islands that bound Asia from the Pacific... Inexorably the end is coming, and when it does, Seaview will be there — and get even with the merciless butchers who took her sons.

At 83, 000 words, Operation Sea Dragon is Carla Manners' first Voyage novel, a rich montage of exotic locations, complex storytelling, breathtaking action, and a devotion to the characters that sees them portrayed with vivid clarity, and takes them to the edge of their ability — especially for a lone hero, on whom will depend Seaview's greatest ever covert op!
