Summary

"Two problems face James Kirk: first, Starfleet codes have been broken by the enemy for the 3rd time in a month; second, he's been offered a solution to his desire for a permanent relationship. The first problem is solved by McCoy; the solution to the second problem has been offered by Spock."

Reactions and Reviews

l really love it when a fellow writer saves me the trouble of hacking a story out of the matrix, as it were. This gem involves the Enterprise being stuck out on a month long wargames exercise with no way to communicate with Starfleet or the other starships because the communications codes may have been broken by hostiles. Kirk's observation of one of the Spock-McCoy wrangling sessions gives him an idea: Use McCoy's Georgia cracker slang as 'code', I had a similar idea a few months ago (using the WW2 Navaho code instead), but Gena did it much better and I'm really glad she did because I wasn't looking forward to having to learn even a little Navaho! Some really hot bedroom moments spice up the action adventure storyline, and the unexpectedly assertive Spock telling off a verbally abusive Kirk is a real treat. Great job. [1]

Clearly the best in the zine! Such a wonderful, leisurely way for two lovers to find their way with each other. And I loved the interaction between the night scenes and the tense bridge situation - it allowed us to remember just who it is we're dealing with and therefore exactly what a tremendous step this love really is. Gena not only takes the reader full circle in the developing relationship but does it with great talent, leaving complete satisfaction in her wake. Demands reading over and over. [2]

Kirk has two serious problems: one personal, one professional. Being stuck in the middle of space under orders not to communicate in the usual way with other Starfleet vessels is driving him crazy until McCoy comes up with a method of communication that relies on Georgia slang. His personal problem? One-night stands are just not filling the bill any longer. Enter one Vulcan to the rescue. A unique and very clever idea from one of our K/S treasures. Indulge yourself! [3]
