Martha Kent is a main character on the television show Smallville based on the character from the comics with the same name.

Fannish Engagement with the Character

Martha tended to be more popular with fans than her husband, Jonathan. LJC writes:

Whether she's nearly cutting Lex Luthor in half with a chainsaw, making faces at her superson's dorky pickup lines, or whacking an assailant with a table lamp, Martha rules the roost at Kent Farm with a mixture of toughness, beauty, snarky wit, and good-heartedness. Martha is the Midwestern moral center of the show, and we love her for it.

She is occasionally shipped with Lex or with Lionel Luthor, and is often seen as supportive towards Clark's relationship with Lex in Clark/Lex stories.
