Many Paths to Tread is a Tolkien fanworks archive that opened on July 27, 2009 as a sister site to the LotR GenFic Community and the LOTR Community Challenges on Live Journal. Initially, the archive was open solely to the members of those groups, but opened to the public on January 1, 2010. The archive is run by the mods who oversee the sister sites: ceshaughnessy, Dreamflower, Pearl Took, Dawn Felagund, and Celeritas.
MPTT welcomes a wide range of fiction, as well as non-fiction and the artwork of its members. Stories can be set in any Age of Arda, feature any of the Races, and have a rating up to "R".
The LJ Community's Challenge Stories are housed there as well. Works that fall within the ratings guidelines are all welcome at MPTT.
The first anniversary of the opening was celebrated with the addition of a new, intricate "skin" crafted by the archive's webmaster, Dawn Felagund. The site already has a set of unique, interchangeable skins, also created by Dawn.
The second anniversary is being noted with the creation of associated Fanlore pages for each of the sister sites. MPTT now boasts nearly 2000 stories, 127 members, 94 authors, 1,450 reviews, 79 series and 6,328,128 words!
Many Paths to Tread is based in the Yahoo! Group, LOTR_Community_GFIC[1] and its sister group lotr_community[2].
