From the Editorial

It is hard to believe I am actually doing this zine...but then again, it shouldn't be. Since the advent of my devotion to Kiefer Sutherland —followed closely thereafter by art affection for Lou Diamond Phillips - I have found myself assaulted with a wealth of creative ideas. While I've written my fair share of multi-media fannish stories (all within a set universe), inspiration abounded when I "discovered" K/L diamond symbol).

My first story was Lost in the Shadows, a "sequel" to The Lost Boys, in which Kiefer played a vampire. The only things borrowed from the film were David and a small handful of facts. The rest was original, from the moment I plucked David out of California and set him down in Chicago with Indigo, a character "based on" Lou.

Next came The Second Power, an adventure with Lou's The First Power character Detective Russ Logan. I gave him anew partner, a Kiefer "clone" named Tarri. Under my pseudonym Robyn LaSalle, I also produced Interludes vol. 1, which featured a variety of stories inspired by a myriad of Kiefer and Lou movie roles. In several cases, the established character was teamed with an original creation. Not only was it easy, other writers "saw" it and penned their own tales. Interludes vol. 2 soon followed, bigger and (in my opinion!) better than the first.

In the midst of it all, I introduced Kiefer and Lou to a few non-movie universes. In one of the many clubs devoted to Anne McCaffery's Pern, I gave birth to K'reef. My friend Rosemary Callahan developed a Lou partner named V'alleresh. Unfortunately, their relationship was too adult to be published in the club newsletter - but in these pages, those tales can be told. Therefore, of all submissions the only ones not completely original are "Cornered in Stillness" and "Chrysalis."

The rest, however, are the results of wildly active imaginations. Mirenna's fantasy piece "To Keep the Peace" is a charming tale. I hope others will like it as much as I do!

"On the Turning Away" is reprinted for the enjoyment of K/U diamond symbol fans; recently run in Under the Gibbous Moon, an all-original fantasy APAzine, it was first written in 1988 for a remote club of elf lovers.

Of all the stories contributed to this publication, "Scattered Sun" has the murkiest history. Initially developed as a "spin off" from Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles, what I co-created with another writer became divided when our friendship ended. Because I put so much original work into the realm, I decided to revive my character and divorced him completely from the joint universe. A pro editor friend gave me a few tips to make it all balance out nicely. I'm quite pleased with the outcome, and proud to present the story for everyone's enjoyment. (And incidentally: the name's pronounced "pah-shock-TEEL" —or just "posh.")
