Lilo & Stitch is a 2002 Disney animated science-fiction comedy-drama film about two orphaned sisters living on the Hawaiian island of Kauai named Lilo and Nani Pelekai, and their new pet "dog", a superpowerful artificial alien fugitive called Experiment 626 and renamed Stitch. Its unexpected success spawned a franchise that includes three direct-to-video and television sequel films, three different animated series, and an alternate universe manga, among other media.

Canon

The first film was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Animated Picture, and the cartoon series was nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award and a Motion Picture Sound Editors award.
