History
McKay/Keller is a canon pairing in season 5. Many fans were unsatisfied that John was the only one of his team who wasn't dating. Including him in the John/Jennifer relationship was one version of 'fixing' the problem. Additionally, McKay/Sheppard is the fandom OTP and a John/Jennifer/Rodney threesome could include this pairing without breaking up Rodney and Jennifer.
