It's Love, Cap'n is a 194-page slash Starsky & Hutch fanzine. It has the subtitle, "A Starsky/Hutch Xene," (a note on the title page says this is a play on words for tranxene, an anti-panic medication.)
The zine is dedicated to the memory of a fan, Pat Charles.
The editor thanked some fans:

The editor wrote:
The print run of this zine was 100. When they're gone, they're gone -- there will be no more reprints. If you're reading a borrowed copy, and you want your own, you have my blessing to take it to your friendly neighborhood copy center and make your own. Enjoy!

I know I've felt for a long time that I made a tactical (if not an artistic) error in giving "It's Love, Cap'n" the cover I did. I've always felt that was the reason I didn't experience the "feeding frenzy" I'd been told to expect upon bringing out a new zine. I still love that cover, but the way it was dismissed was pretty disappointing. [2]

Suzan Lovett - One fan wrote of this interior illo: the zine "had one of my all-time favorite interior illos--a Suzan Lovett with Starsky seated and looking up, and Hutch beside him, touching his knee. [The Hostage Heart]: One of my favorite stories is from the It's Love, Cap'n zine. In the "The Hostage Heart" Starsky goes home with Hutch for the funeral of Hutch's mother and discovers that Hutch was an abused child. [5]
[zine]: This terrific anthology zine is a captivating read from start to finish. It's got the incredible "Descry" in by Elizabeth Lowry. It's got some terrific fic by Constance Collins. It's got some very pointed, clever cartoons to make a slasher grin. It's got the absolutely amazing story by Martha, "The Hostage Heart" a story that will blow you away. [6]
[zine]: I'm still peeved at IT'S LOVE, CAP'N, for padding itself with, among other things, over eleven pages of LIFE IN HELL cartoons, which funny as they are aren't S/H, and all of which I had already in the books the editor reprinted them from. [7]

I've already read Two Hearts One Fire in the archive, and enjoyed it (and the prequel, Written In The Heart) very much. "Written" is prominent on my rec's list, actually. I thought the long quoted passages tended to slow things down a bit, but what an *incredible* scene where Starsky tells Hutch about his near-death (er, actual death) experience. I've come across a few different stories in which he talks about it, and I loved them all, but I still think this one's extra-special. I love it that Starsky met his father on the 'other side,' and I loved his telling about how he made the decision to come back, and that his father understood his reasons... it's incredibly touching. One of my favourite moments from any of the S/H stories I've read. *sniffle* [9]
