How to Be a World Class Private Investigator is a gen letterzine dedicated to the CBS series Magnum, P.I., which starred Tom Selleck as a former Navy officer who served in Vietnam during the war and then settled in Hawaii, working as a private investigator.

The title, How to Be a World Class Private Investigator comes from the book Magnum frequently mentions in his voice-overs – a manual he's writing for others in the field.

HTBAWCPI was intended to be a quarterly publication, but only lasted for a total of three issues. Preceeded by Little Voices.

From an Ad

"After several near-deaths since its inception in December 1984, this Magnum P.I. letterzine has finally hit the presses. The emphasis on WCPI will be on letters of comment, although articles on background, actors, upcoming news and other topics will be seen fairly regularly. LoCs and any MPI artwork are currently needed for issue #2... LoCs discussing Airwolf are also eagerly accepted for this letterzine, or your comments on both shows may be included in the same letter." [1]
