Oh my god, I just saw the subpages for Lord Voldemort and Albus Dumbledore (for example), and it's hilariously confusing to see them listed as Harry Potter/Albus Dumbledore since they are subpages for HP - but I think it makes everyone think of the pairing! I wonder if there's something that can be done about that? Sivullinen 07:18, 5 October 2008 (UTC)

Maybe the main page could be called "HP" or something else like that, and "Harry Potter" could redirect to it? Then the subpages would be HP/Albus Dumbledore, etc.? -- Liviapenn 08:21, 5 October 2008 (UTC)

The uses of subpages needs to be updated. I propose replacing the "fandom splits" point with "lists", a la Doro.--æthel 17:01, 29 January 2010 (UTC)

Under reasons for subpages, perhaps also when the page is too large? (though "too large" would need an explanation) --Mrs. Potato Head 21:20, 13 December 2010 (UTC)

I added it as a subset of "list" cases.--æþel 21:25, 13 December 2010 (UTC)

did I manage to find a bug, or should permissions be updated?

Trying to create a subpage, I got the following message: "You do not have permission to edit this page, for the following reason: The action you have requested is limited to users in one of the groups: gardener, admin, Administrators." Did I manage to find a bug, or is that a policy that's gone into effect since the last edit of the Help:Subpages page, and if the latter, should the page text be updated to reflect that? --Sk 07:23, 17 May 2011 (UTC)

What subpage did you try to create? How did you create it? There's no technical limitation on creating subpages.--æþel 01:21, 19 May 2011 (UTC)
I tried three methods (to create one page), all failed.
  1. I tried typing "User:Sk/Thoughts on Fanlore Editing" into the search box.
  2. I tried pasting the URL "http://fanlore.org/wiki/User:Sk/Thoughts_on_Fanlore_Editing" into my browser's address bar.
  3. I tried creating a redlink on my userpage to User:Sk/Thoughts on Fanlore Editing, using the page preview function to make the redlink clickable, and create the subpage that way.
In all three cases, I got a page with the following text: "There is currently no text in this page. You can search for this page title in other pages, search the related logs, or edit this page." Clicking through to the "edit this page" link, I got a new page with the following: "Permission error - You do not have permission to edit this page, for the following reason: The action you have requested is limited to users in one of the groups: gardener, admin, Administrators." (At that point I gave up and made it a section on my User page instead of a subpage. *sadface*) --Sk 02:04, 19 May 2011 (UTC)
I forgot about that. Before I got gardener permissions, I tried that, too, and was similarly prevented. This technical restriction should be limited to user pages (or possibly also to project pages).--æþel 02:32, 19 May 2011 (UTC) P.S. I have no idea why it's set up this way.
You've found a bug! I'm working on a fix -- thank you for reporting it! --Awils1 15:14, 21 May 2011 (UTC)
Should be fixed now! I'm seeing people making subpage edits on their user pages :) --Awils1 09:45, 23 May 2011 (UTC)

Subpages for seasons of series?

So basically, the core of the issue is that the Precure series is a series which, each year, gets a new season with an entirely new cast, plot and setting. However, they each have the same premise (think something like Power Rangers). The current Precure page has a sub-heading for each season but I thought that they should probably have their own, separate pages due to the difference in characters and the lack of interaction between season (excluding crossover movies).

The question is basically, should individual unrelated seasons of a series have their own subpages, or not? - MapleSchmaple (talk) 06:57, 13 April 2024 (UTC)

Realised it would make more sense to create the pages for each season and a category for the fandom, sorry! - MapleSchmaple (talk) 03:02, 14 April 2024 (UTC)
