Help:Editing
This wiki works much like Wikipedia, so at least its quirks are generic.
If this is a brand-new page, check Fanlore:Categories to learn what kind of page it should be. If it's new, says "stub", or is really free-form, try and find one of the Templates to use: they offer consistent structure and prompts for what is supposed to be on that type of page.
Editing Help
The toolbar above the edit window provides these features:
* B - bold text * I - italic text * Ab - internal link: Help:Contents) * Globe - external link: [OTW web site] * A - section header * Square - embed an image * Rocket - embed other file formats * Square root - create math formula (using LaTeX) * Red circle - nowiki text - ignore possible wiki formatting * Squiggle - sign a talk entry with user name and date (used on Talk pages) * Line - insert horizontal line
For example, to create subtitle for a part of the page, click the A button, and then type the label inside the double equals signs (==).
As you go along, you should check your formatting by clicking on the Preview button at the bottom. Previewing early and often will teach you in practise how the system works. Don't be shy about looking at other pages in the wiki as they are an excellent place to learn how to edit; look at how people did things and adapt it to suit your needs.
