In Hearts and Minds Kirk and Spock realize their fledgling friendship could be much more after Kirk Prime is rescued from the Nexus and reunited with Spock Prime. When I read, a film clip of the story plays in my head. Lah_mrh has written this story with a 'magic pen‘. The Primes are TOS Kirk and Spock. Their young counterparts are the characters from the last movie and when they begin to question their relationship by interacting with the Primes, there‘s never a false note in this lengthy character study. Though I enjoyed the last movie, I had trouble envisioning Zachary Quinto‘s Spock maturing into the TOS character I grew up with. That really bothered me. Lah_mrh has accomplished part of the transition for me and this Uhura is the professional with a mother hen tendency we‘ve come to expect. This McCoy is priceless and Sulu and Chekov argue whether fencing was a Russian invention. Highly recommended. I look forward to more from this author.
