Friday the 13th is a horror film series and the trope codifier for slasher films, following in the footsteps of John Carpenter's Halloween, and paving the way for A Nightmare on Elm Street and beyond. The story centers around a masked undead hockey mask-wearing killer named Jason Voorhees and the majority of the films are set at Camp Crystal Lake. It has also spawned Video Games, an unrelated TV series, comic books and novels.
Fandom
The films are very popular among horror fans, but the fanworks fandom is small. As of May 2022, AO3 hosts 761 fanworks, and fanfiction.net hosts 589 fanfics. On the AO3 there is a lot of interest in crossovers between Friday the 13th and other horror films, likely because commercial crossover films and comics have also been produced, such as Freddy vs. Jason and Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash.
Pairings
On AO3, the most common pairing is "Jason Voorhees/Reader." He gets slashed with Freddy Krueger (from A Nightmare on Elm Street) and Michael Myers (from Halloween). In a true crack pairing that crosses fiction and reality, there are ten stories that slash Jason with musician Alice Cooper.
