Five Conversations with Jack that Surprised Jim (and one that never happened) is a slash Sentinel story by Caro Dee.

First of all, I have never read a story that focuses on Jack, a character who appears only in flashbacks but is significant because he was Jim's partner. It is obvious from the episode that he had a profound effect on Jim, but with only a few minutes of air time, we don't get much sense of *why*. Caro really fills in the blanks in her speculations, but she makes an excellent case for what the backstory might have been. In canon, you get a sense of Jack as being, in turns, tough, world-weary, savvy, vulnerable, funny and sad. Caro's captured all of that "Jack voice" here. This story is very much deserving of the praise it received at her site and the LMFA nominations.
