A filksing is an event where fans gather to sing filk music. They are frequently held at science fiction conventions, usually in the evenings after most of the regular programming has ended.
There are various filksing organizational rules, which are followed with varying degrees of formality, including:
- Bardic circle- Filkers sit in a circle and take turns to perform, choose someone else to perform, or pass on their turn. This is summarized as "Pick, pass, or play."
- Chaos circle-No set order or turns.
- Domino Chaos circle- No set turns or order, but songs must have some connection to the previous song, such as having a similar topic or using the same tune.
