Fine Kirkpatrick Ass

FKA is, in popslash fandom, an acronym for "Fine Kirkpatrick Ass" and was apparently originally coined by cathybites, aka MI, in the fall of 2001.[1] In February, 2002 Allecto brought an FKA sign to an event in Philadelphia, where Chris saw it; her livejournal post spawned a wave of references. It grew as a meme, a source of jokes, and an inspiration for icons and fiction[2] in popslash livejournal fandom through 2002.[3] There was a long-standing tradition among 'N Sync fans to hold up signs at concerts; among the younger, less slash- and/or ironically minded fans, these often were inscribed with sentiments like "MARRY ME, JUSTIN", but some popslashers took to holding up signs showing their appreciation for the fine Kirkpatrick ass. As detailed in Allecto's post, Chris Kirkpatrick became aware of the signs and their meaning, and engaged in some stage antics in response.
