Esprix is a long-time gay science fiction and slash fan and convention organizer/SMOF.

Born and raised in the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania suburbs, he attended his first conventions, Creation Cons, in the 1980's and 90's after discovering Doctor Who on his local PBS stations. After coming out in 1987, he attended his first Gaylaxicon in Philadelphia in 1992, and became a regular attendee of both Gaylaxicon and Philcon over the years.

During this time he also became involved in the Society for Creative Anachronism, and attended his first Pennsic War in 1990, an event he has attended every single year since. He is very involved with Clan Blue Feather, the LGBT group in the SCA, running both the Pennsic encampment and the annual Clan Blue Feather Ball and Fashion Cotillion (also since 1990).

In 2001 he relocated to San Diego, California, and became active in fandom there. He helped with the new startup convention, Conjecture, starting in 2001, and became involved in other area conventions in various capacities (Confurence, Westercon).

In 2004 he was Con Chair for the first west coast Gaylaxicon. There, he met Minotaur, and together they formed the San Diego chapter of the Gaylactic Network, San Diego Queer Sci-Fi (SDQSF). He also served as Speaker for the Gaylactic Network from 2004 to 2006, and continues to be active as a board member.

Not surprisingly after meeting Minotaur, it wasn't long before he started becoming involved in slash fandom, focusing mostly on American/western cartoon slash (Storm Hawks, Teen Titans, Avatar: The Last Airbender, The Venture Brothers, 6teen, Disney films, etc.). In 2008 Minotaur bought him a membership to his first slash convention, CON.TXT.

In 2005 he relocated to Maryland. Although he is not as active in conventions as he once was, he continues to attend Gaylaxicon, CON.TXT and Pennsic, and to be involved in various online fannish communities, particularly LiveJournal.
