Edward Scissorhands is a 1990 American romantic dark fantasy film directed by Tim Burton and starring Johnny Depp. It has since been adapted into a theatre play.

Canon

The story follows an artificial man named Edward (portrayed by Depp), an unfinished creation who has scissors for hands. Edward is taken in by a suburban family and falls in love with their teenage daughter Kim (portrayed by Winona Ryder). It includes themes of teen romance, suburban life, teenage shenanigans, and misunderstandings leading to violence. It has been called "a modern fairy tale."

Fandom

Edward Scissorhands is a small fandom with few fanworks. It is more commonly used in crossovers than on its own. It has been crossed with the Silent Hill video game series, Fullmetal Alchemist, Merlin, and Harry Potter. Non-crossover fic is often Edward/Kim or gen.
