Death on Ægyptus is a 141-page novel by Marilyn H. Silva.

Summary from Bill Hupe:

A novel featuring Kirk, Spock, McCoy, Saavik and a new character. A Human, Romulan, and Klingon colony have been wiped out, and it is up to the crew of the Enterprise to find out why before intergalactic war starts."

Summary from the back of the zine:

Captain's Log: Stardate 8140.5. First Officer Spock in command.

Captain Kirk, on Aegyptus, has been overcome by something which also may have killed the Federation colonists. He is presently in a coma. After relaying the situation to Captain Terrell of the Reliant, he has ordered that I, as First Officer, should take command of the Enterprise. We have notified Starfleet of the crisis, and they are immediately dispatching reinforcements. The USS Enterprise and the USS Reliant, in orbit above Aegyptus, are currently under siege and surrounded by six Klingon battlecruisers. Undetected by our sensors, four, which have recently appeared, had been shielded by cloaking devices. The siege warrants red alert conditions on both Federation vessels, which necessitates severing ties with the Federation landing parties on Aegyptus.

The purpose of the siege is not, as originally suspected, due to the secret dilithium cargo, but is instead due to the discovery on Aegyptus of several, apparently murdered, Klingons. We have full knowledge of and have recorded the incidences surrounding these deaths as witnessed by Captain Kirk, and in part by Drs. Baker and Colins. Commander Kara, aboard the Winged Death, accuses the Federation of being responsible for these deaths, the motive being a Federation takeover of Aegyptus and in turn the Klingon dilithium mining operations. Commander Kara, Klingon leader in this quadrant, demands to talk with Captain Kirk, and also demands we deliver to him those persons he claims are responsible for the deaths. Due to the involvement of personnel on the Enterprise, Captain Terrell has ordered me to take charge of the Klingon incident, but meanwhile the Reliant is also preparing for battle. As commander of the Enterprise, I will do everything in my power to avoid endangering the lives of the crew and officers aboard this ship.
