This is not a death story in the classical sense although for nearly two thirds of this you will just think it is a matter of dead guys trying to capture their killers it gets more complicated when the first time element is introduced. With this one we see that death finally gives Fraser the freedom to talk about the feelings he kept hidden in life and therefore becomes also how he and Ray deal with this knowledge as well as how that impacts on their investigation. Not to spoil it but it’s ending is positive, upbeat and perhaps not what one might expect at the beginning but it is an excellent way of tackling how both characters view death. [1]
