Submission Requests

From a July 1993 submission request in GAZ:

A non-slash zine based on the new series, KUNG-FU: THE LEGEND CONTINUES. Accepting stories featuring the wonderful relationship between Caine and his son, Peter, plus the wisdom and mysticism reflected in each episode. Submit stories on a 3 1/2 floppy in ASCII format (hard copy attached). Deadline: Sept. 1, 1993; Aug 1, 1993 for stories I need to retype.

From a 1994 submission request in Fruit Cocktail #4:

Accepting poetry, artwork, and stories that explore the relationship between Caine and Peter, delve into Caine's 15 years of wandering and feature the wisdom, humor and mysticism reflected in each episode. I'm interested in all styles and interpretations, except slash! Adult situations are fine, however. I'd also like to see stories that expand the relationship between Caine and Skalany and explore Blaisdell's years before he became a cop. All stories will be considered. (If you miss the deadline, don't worry, I plan on another issue!) Deadline: July 1, 1994 (for Toronto Trek).

Issue 1

back cover of issue #1, Heather Bruton

Corridors 1 was published in June 1994 and is 173 pages long.

The art is by Linda Fairbanks, Jeanne McClure (does a lot of illos of men with guns), Toni Hardeman, and Heather Bruton.

The zine's dedication:

"Corridors" is lovingly dedicated to: David Carradine, Chris Potter, Robert Lansing, Kim Chan

and the rest of the cast and crew of Kung Fu: The Legend Continues. May you keep going & going & going & going....[1]

From the editorial:

Although I've been a student of Taoism for four plus years, and have incorporated a great deal of the philosophy into my life, Poppa Caine still leaves me a mite bewildered at times. However, for the most part, Kung Fu: The Legend Continues constantly reinforces my studies. Taoism is elegant in its simplicity and the show is a wonderful opportunity to see it in action. The sheer beauty of Caine's lifestyle is inviable [sic]! We are possessed by our possessions. Caine has little, therefore, he has much. Caine is gentle and yielding, therefore, he does not break.

The most important lesson I've learned from the Tao is to stop swimming upstream — all you do is wear

yourself out fighting the current. Go with the flow, and you find anxiety, stress and tension melt away. By not doing, things get done! I am most grateful to David Carradine for bringing the Tao to life for me, and reinforcing (Smack! Thanks Pop, I needed that!) the lesson. May you always walk in peace and harmony....

Author's note for "Unending Repercussions":

This story is based on the story “Twisted Vengeance'’ by Elise Hill which can be found in Corridors 1. In the story, Peter is kidnapped. The kidnapper sends Caine a note demanding that he come alone or Peter will die. Paul Blaisdell is at Caine’s when he receives the ransom note and accompanies Caine to the rendezvous. Once there, they find that Peter is being held at knife point. The kidnapper (a shadowy figure) tries to force Caine to fight Blaisdell to the death, or Peter will be killed. Peter, beaten and tortured, tells the kidnappers (to the statement “You have no choice”), 'I have one’ (choice), closes his eyes and steps backwards into the knife being held at his back. He collapses. This does provide a great distraction and Blaisdell shoots the shadowy figure directing all this. Caine and Blaisdell are then able to subdue the rest of the kidnappers. The next scene shows Caine and a recovered Peter. This story tells what may have happened as Paul tries to deal with watching Peter purposely back into a knife in an attempt to save Paul and Caine....

Issue 4

cover of issue #4

Corridors 4 was published in 1997 and contains 276 pages.

From the editorial:

Welcome to the fourth issue of Corridors. This issue is just blasting, billowing, bursting forth with love and sexy stories... some slightly raunchy. <vbeg> The stories also contain some very tense moments, funny moments, and poignant moments.

Also, you will find some lovely poetry inside, backed by screen captures from some of the episodes. The only artwork is from B.J. Eickhoff, however, it's a wonderfully sexy, 'get out your drool doth' picture of Kermit! I also want to welcome some new writers to this issue: Terri Volpe, Carol Fitzpatrick, and Samantha Peterson. They have now joined the illustrious alumni of Corridors' writers as represented by this issue's table of contents. I'm sure you'll find your favorite writers on this list! Very much like previous issues, you will find an eclectic mixture within these pages.

Letters of comment are always appreciated by artists and authors. This is the only recompense, reward, remuneration, kudos, pats on the back, etcetera, etcetera, etcetera, or way of knowing if their work is appreciated. Therefore, LOC's are strongly encouraged and will be passed on to the appropriate author, or artist.

From the editor, a shout-out for the next issue:

...Four years ago, the grandson of Kwai Chang Caine walked out of the past and into our hearts. In those four years we saw him reunited with the son he thought he had lost. He found friendship, love, and peace; and became a Shambhala master. We saw Peter grow from a reckless, embittered cop, and mature as a Shaolin priest. Along the way we made a lot of friends: Blaisdell,

Kermit, Simms, Skalany, and the rest of the 101st Precinct, not to mention The Ancient! And, even though Warner Bros, in its infinite wisdom (?) deemed it time to cancel, we are not ready to let go of our new found family. Interest in our favorite heroes and heroines has not waned, but instead, has intensified. There are still stories to tell.

I'm already collecting for Corridors 5, so show me the stories! And poetry, and artwork, and cartoons! In keeping with the wondrous diversity of Corridors, we will consider ail types of stories. If you have astory that you are just dying to tell, we're living to read it! Pl
