Some Excerpts

I first discovered online fandom in late 1996-early 1997 when suzecarol called me up and read me her first Highlander slash story over the phone, but I've been a "fan" all my life. At first, I spent most of my time getting into trouble on the ROG-L. I attempted to write a few godawful slash stories, several filks and a couple of parodies, now lost to the ether, I hope. Then I discovered vidding. I was very fortunate in that I was mentored by two marvelous vidders, lapillus and killabeez. I started vidding in 2001, in Highlander. Then I moseyed from HL to X-Files, and while I was deeply into vid-learning/obsesso mode (where I remain), I fell head over heels for Buffy. That was just a tiny step away from my most passionate obsession up to that time, Angel. And I just kept vidding. When Angel was canceled, I flopped around like a fish out of water for about two years. During those two years, I kept vidding every day--something I try to do even now--and managed to scare even myself with my output, which included more than 80 vids, including Scooby Road (BTVS to Abbey Road) an accomplishment that still boggles my mind in retrospect and of which I am most proud. Finally, when I was taking a deep, whining breath, way2busymom sent me the DVDs for Supernatural S1, and she demanded that I watch. I marathonned S1 within about a week, and have yet to come up for air. Oh boys.

I love to talk about vidding. As a matter of fact, you'd be hard-pressed to make me shut up about it. Song choice, character, narration, tech and technique, meta, macro and micro. If I had to pick a single fandom with which to identify myself, it would be the Fandom of Vidding, which overrides everything else in my fannish sphere. I love to make "universe" vids and character studies. I love to experiment with technique. I try to hone my style with every vid I make. I'm not a competitive vidder at all, other than my ongoing attempts to learn something new and/or outdo myself with every vid I make, and I don't always win. :)

Supernatural. Sam and Dean and their heroes' journey have hit every fannish kink I possess, and some of them that I didn't even know I had! I lo-o-o-ove them. I'm emotionally tethered to this show, and when that happens, well... I *must* vid it. I must share my obsessions, and I want to share what I'm thinking and feeling about them. VID!
