Reactions and Reviews

It is not logical (this story begins).... And I agree wholeheartedly with that sentiment. It is not logical that one can become engrossed in a story that contains exactly 37 typewritten lines.

About 13 seconds are covered here. Seconds which are etched indelibly into each of our memories. The freeze-frame scene in which Spock realizes there is but one way to save the Enterprise and his beloved from certain destruction.

This is just as painful as it gets. I could quote the whole thing and not have a long review, but everything that needs to be said is said with an incredible economy of words.

Spock, scientist to the end, calculates exactly how many seconds it will take him to get to the engine room. Yet he reckons, "I must steal just three seconds to look at him. Must usurp a moment to capture his features to accompany me into eternity."

I was captivated, hungry for more. Then, at the bottom of the page; "Jim. Forgive me."

It was done. So very, very sad and so very, very Spock. [1]
