alt.tv.x-files.creative.mature was an X-Files newsgroup dedicated to sexually explicit fanfic with a rating of R or above. The group was created in January 1999 following a discussion on alt.tv.x-files.creative (ATXC). Some members were concerned about the NC-17 material posted in ATXC being available to younger readers.[1]
The creation of alt.tv.x-files.creative.mature did nothing to solve this problem, as neither of the newsgroups were moderated and members continued to post explicit fanfiction to ATXC.
Interest in alt.tv.x-files.creative.mature was short-lived, and at its height it was mostly used for crossposting from ATXC. The newsgroup was largely abandoned within a year.
