A Part of Me is a Sentinel gen series by Jess Riley. Composed of 6 parts, was nominated and winner of the LMFA Awards 2005, in the categories, Series and AU (Different Worlds Award).[1]

Jess writes amazing, angsty buddyfic, but my all time favorite has to be the Part of Me series. It's so easy to make kidfic saccharine-sweet, but Jess does a wonderful job of showing Jim's struggles to raise three-year-old Blair. What's interesting about this fic is Blair's past traumas, which force Jim into the unique challenge of trying to coax back Blair's exuberance and willfulness without going too far and turning him into a brat. The whole series is really splendid and well worth the read.
